They Live In Motorhomes by the River

January 26th 2010 in Misc

It’s always kind of strange and a little bit sad when friends decide to sell up and move away, but it’s even stranger when they decide to sell everything up and live in motorhomes. I ran into a couple of friends of mine at the pub last night and that’s exactly what they’re going to do.

This isn’t a sad, hard luck story about the credit crunch putting my friends out on their ears and all they can afford to live in is a motorhome though; this is their choice, this is what they want. They’re both gainfully employed, have reasonable-sized flats and get by as well as most of us do, they’ve just decided to quit the rat race, get service-industry jobs and live in motorhomes by the river. As much as I’d love the peace and quiet of living that way and the fact that there are no people around to annoy me really appeals to me (for those of you new to the blog, I have long extolled the virtues of living in a self storage unit), but I wouldn’t want to live in a motorhome by the river. Firstly, I don’t think I could get Sky TV or the internet out there and secondly, I hate driving.

Living in motorhomes isn’t really something I’d do, but I don’t think I can be overly critical of my friends for choosing this lifestyle. Actually, I can. Stinking hippies.

Lol… Yes it does sound a bit weird, but I’ll be honest, I kinda envy them. That about to just drop everything and go into a quiet and peaceful existence… that most be something. Although I’m pretty sure after awhile I’ll get bored with it and hunger for the fast life again.
But its something to think about when I retire though!
